When you start the game, over time enemies start coming from one side of the playing field to the other where they try to reach your home base. When you are unable to stop the enemies from entering your base and doing their damage you lose health. You have to prevent this because when your home base is destroyed you have lost the game. You must place your towers wisely in the way of the enemies to your base. In the case of this new Windows Mobile Tower Defense game from Color Stone Ltd you have a total of 6 different towers that you can plant down to defend your base. The towers can do different damage to the incoming enemies and there for you need a proper mix. On of the down sides of the game is that it’s not described anywhere what the towers actually do, so you have to observe against what enemies they work best. It’s a shame because it could have been described in a simple help page in the menu.

As you build more and more towers you gain money by destroying the enemies that are spawning on the field, with your new earned funds you can opt for upgrading your towers or buying new ones. Towers can be upgraded twice and as you do they become bigger and more bad ass, the graphics become cooler or more obvious and the towers gain more guns.

There are 2 levels that you can play and they are quite different so it often calls for a different strategy. Tower Defense features 3 difficult levels where easy is a good one to start out with. In the options menu you can select music/sound effects and there is a possibility to view your high score. There is not a real option to save option for this Windows Mobile game but you can quit and resume your game later on. So you are left with the option to either start a new game or resume the game you have been playing before.

This game is one of the best and most fun games featured on the newer WVGA/VGA Windows Mobile devices you can find. If you have always enjoyed Tower Defense games you should definitely get it, it is one of the better games that have ever graced the Windows Mobile game platform. The little downsides of this game include not being able to save different game and the fact that it’s not completely clear what the different towers do. But these little things do not take away from the fun of the game and it gets a 8.5 out of 10 easy.

Flight Commander
In flight commander you get control of the air space around an airfield. You have to make sure that the planes land and don’t crash. I’m sure some of you recognize this from the popular iPhone game called Flight Control. The game is basically a rip of that game, though it does not really matter a fun game is a fun game. And Windows Mobile could use some more as a platform, especial for WVGA devices. There are different types of planes that you have to land on the different air strips. The game is challenging fun and looks great. The only downside is that there isn’t a demo available, I’m sure a lot of you would like to try it before you buy it, although if you don’t like the game you can get a refund as far as I know. Tower Defense
Nearly as long as there are games there have been tower defense games. And this game really is the best of them all, well for the Windows Mobile platform at least. The game has pretty deep strategy as you can choose from 6 different towers to defend your base with, additionally you can upgrade each tower up to 3 times. Choose wisely what towers you put down it can change the course of battle greatly. Every battle you do is different and thus the game has a high replay value overall. The graphics look lush and gritty at the same time and as for a WVGA Games It feels great to play it on this resolution. Again, like Flight Control there does not seem to be a demo version available.
